They’ve been friends since September and seem to get a long like a house on fire, so you decide to invite your preschooler’s BFF over for a playdate. However, while they might be bosom buddies in the school, it’s never all happy families when you bring them over to your house!
Here are ten things that are likely to happen at your child’s playdate.
1. Your preschooler will cry
They haven’t yet learned to share, especially their most favourite toy – the one their friend is really intrigued by.
2. Their friend will cry
When they are told they can’t play with above toy by your child they’ll cry. Hopefully they won’t ask to go home – imagine trying to explain that one!
3. You’ll be shocked by the mess they make
You spent the day before making sure the house was tidy – God forbid the visitor comments on the mess and goes home to tell mummy!
4. There will be a fight
Usually because they’ll both want to do something different, at the same time!
5. Someone will get bored
The novelty of being in a new house can wear off very quickly, especially if your lunch skills aren’t up to scratch.
6. They’ll want to swap clothes
What is with kids wanting to swap their clothes when they are in someone else’s house?!
7. They will want you to play with them
Thought you had the afternoon off? Think again! They will guilt you into baking or painting with them!
8. You’ll worry about what to feed them
And you just know they’ll tell you if it’s not good.
9. You’ll worry if it’s too early to drop them home
It’s been two hours and your patience is wearing thin – is it too early to drop them home?!
10. You’ll cry
At the end, when you’ve dropped one home and put the other to bed, you'll cry. Not because you’re sad but because the stress of having someone over to play is just too much to take...
