While some parents find it difficult to get back into a routine after the school holidays, there are plenty of us who are jumping with joy as September 1st steadily approaches!

Yes, we love our little darlings with our whole heart, but the summer months are LONG, and as the weeks go by we can all start to get on each other’s nerves!

Back-to-school time may be expensive, emotional and exhausting, but there are DEFINITELY some benefits to it!

1. Routine. Wonderful routine!

After a summer of no routine and lie-ins, it’s definitely true to say that kids thrive on routine. Boredom started to set in about three weeks after the holidays started, and you’ve been dealing with grumpy and bored teens ever since!

2. A new term means new possibilities

Yes, every year we enter the start of the school term with a head full of goals and possibilities – this year we will FINALLY get on top of things. And while we may only hit our targets for the first month before we start to slowly revert back to our old ways...  the possibilities that come with September are refreshing.

3. The reduction in the washing

As the laundry basket starts to groan and creak under the weight of an entire load of summer washing... you thank your stars for the return of the school uniforms. Sweet, sweet uniforms!

4. The weather. The glorious, glorious weather!

Every September, just as the kids go back to school, the sun decides to make one last performance before the autumn well and truly hits. Basking in the sun in peace and quiet – it’s everything you’ve been looking forward to all month long!

5. Back to normal bedtime

No more staying up until 9pm interrupting your 'me-time' with their shows; back to school means back to normal bedtime hours - ah blissful silence.

6. Back to organised chaos

Mornings during the summer usual comprise of you telling the kids what's happening that day while they disagree and tell you what THEIR plan is. Cue a lot of loud shouting before you finally agree to their plan for the sake of a peaceful life. It may be just as chaotic during the school year but at least it's organised chaos!

SHARE if you can relate to these!
