Holidays are the perfect way to spend quality time together as a family and it is easy to let your guard down and fall into relaxed holiday mode.

However, there are a few things you can do to ensure your kids are safe at all times.

Going out for meals
When you are on holidays you can bring your kids to dinner. Most resorts and restaurants will allow children to stay until late, with some even offering family entertainment to keep them amused. However, if you do want to spend some quality time with your other half make sure you have a reliable and trust worthy babysitter to watch your kids while you are out.

Beach
When you are on the beach, make sure your little one is close to you at all times. Don’t allow them to go near the water on their own even if they can swim and never allow them get on a lilo in the ocean as it can be pulled out to sea really easily.

Road safety
Roads and traffic are a lot different when you are abroad and it is important you stick to the rules of the road when trying to cross. Ensure your child only ever crosses at traffic lights and to always look left and right even if the light is green.

Stranger danger
It is easy for children to pick up a conversation with a stranger and while most of it will be harmless it is important you keep an eye on any adults your child talks to and any other kids that they play with.

Contact number
Write your mobile number with the country code on your child’s clothing, including their swimming suit, in case they get lost. If possible, write down the address of where you are staying beside your number and as an extra precaution, have your child memorise both.

Animals
If your little one is an animal lover, it is important that you teach them of the dangers of approaching an animal when abroad. Stray dogs are a lot more common in other countries and might bite your child if approached. Obviously, snakes and other insects should be avoided at all costs. Carry a small first aid kit with you when you are out and about just in case.
