It's a sign of the times that teachers in the UK are now being urged to teach kids how to react if they are caught up in a terror attack.

A new animated film and specially designed lessons plans are being made available to teachers of students aged between 11 and 16-years, and Metropolitan Police deputy assistant commissioner Lucy D’Orsiis is urging schools to use them.

The Run, Hide, Tell - The Story of Nur, Edih and Llet animation will be available from November 14th, and will inform students how to react in terror situations.

“Whilst we cannot make these lessons mandatory in schools, I would strongly urge education providers and youth organisations to consider delivering this life-saving information to the 11- to 16-year-olds in their care," the deputy assistant commissioner said, according to the HuffPost

“We appreciate this can be a difficult subject to speak to young people about, but we’ve carefully designed everything to be age-appropriate and we know from our research that this is information that young people want to be equipped with.”

What do you think: Is it good to be prepared or are we just scaring young adults? And should we be doing the same in Ireland?
