Your 5-6 year old will be learning how to combine two groups to model addition. At this age, children are encouraged to draw pictures which represent maths problems.
  • Sing with your child and use counting rhymes.  The melody helps children to retain information and also helps them understand the concept of numbers.
  •  Fun counting games are a great way to help your little one learn. While in the car, why not count the blue cars you pass together and then how many red cars and ask them the total.
  • A trip to the supermarket can also be a great learning experience, ask them to add five bananas to a bag or add five more apples? Then ask how many apples do we have in total?
