Arts and crafts are a favourite for many kids, but buying a constant stream of supplies can get pretty expensive. So, instead of forking out a fortune, why not put your old, broken jewellery to good use and, with a little bit of glue and inspiration, your child can have lots of fun.

All you need is glue, needle and thread, broken jewellery and enthusiasm:

Frame
Jazz up a plain frame by gluing broken beads onto the sides. If you don’t have a frame to hand you can pick up a cheap one fairly easily. This is also a great idea for a Christmas or birthday gift for grandparents or even for Father's Day.

Lampshade
If your bracelet has a broken clasp, put it to good use by gluing costume jewellery to the shade. Try to go for flat, light-weight beads otherwise it can actually be a little too heavy for the shade.

Base of the lamps
Rather than going out and buying a new lamp, give it some life by letting your little one glue broken bracelets around it.

Your child’s bed
Add a bit of sparkle to your little one’s room by securing pearls to their bed or along their bookcase. If you like, you can sew beads to a canapé or even into their bed linen, however, we recommend you do this by yourself and maybe let your child pick out which beads to use.

Flower pot
If you have a whole box of broken jewellery, let your son or daughter glue them to a flower pot. The greater the variety of beads the better it will look.

Mirror
Give an old plain mirror some life by popping some large jewellery pieces around the edges. Kids will love helping you choose the different ones to go for.

T-shirt
Give your son or daughter an old, t-shirt and allow them to glue the beads onto it. This is not only great if they are running out of party clothes but would also make a pretty good gift.
