We all lead such busy lives these days, and running from pillar to post without so much as a tea break can mean much-needed bonding time with our daughter can go by the wayside.

And while it is never intentional, it is so important we schedule it into our day/week because before we know it, they will have grown up and fled the nest and we’ll be left wondering where the time went.

Spend the day together

Once a month, head out of the house just the two of you. Go to the cinema, to the park or even for something to eat and get to know each other that little bit more.

Read to them

A bedtime story is not only a great way to help your little one relax into sleep, but discussing it and cuddling together can help you bond.

Talk to each other

It’s easy to let the day pass without really properly talking to each other. While we know the evenings are busy, there are always opportunities to speak to your youngster: before bed, while you are preparing a meal or hanging the washing out, or even when you are travelling to school in the morning – the list is endless.

Get involved in her interests

If your little one is a keen sportswoman, get involved. If you are going to be dropping them to training you might as well stay and help out. Being involved in common activities is an effortless way to bond.

Include her in your likes

Whether it’s a love of baking, reading or art, involve your little one in your interests to create an unbreakable bind.

Tell jokes

In the car on the way to and from school, while you are tidying up, brushing her hair doing your make-up – there are countless opportunities to have a good laugh together!
