April Fools’ Day is just around the corner, and what a perfect opportunity to play a few fun tricks on your children!

Here are eight ones you could have a lot of fun with, just be prepared for them to play a few on you!

Vegetable lollies

Get a piece of vegetable, like broccoli, pop it onto the top of a lollipop stick, cover with tissue paper or better yet an actual lollipop wrapper and give it to your youngster as a “treat”.

Mashed potato ice-cream

Considering it’s nearly Easter, why not give them a scoop of their favourite ice-cream with a little chocolate sauce sprinkled on top! Except replace the ice-cream with delicious mashed potato!

Put newspaper into their shoes

Tell them they’ve grown a lot over night before you hand them their shoes to put on. They’ll be surprised at just how much feet can grow in one night!

Serve them frozen cereal

Only do this is you’re not in a rush in the morning! Pour their favourite cereal into a bowl along with some milk the night before and pop it into the freezer. In the morning, give it to your child and watch them wonder why they can’t get their spoon into it!

Cover the sensor on the remote

Use a little piece of sellotape, cover the sensor on the front of the remote control – watch your kids bang it and check the batteries at least a dozen times!

No soap

Paint a bar of soap with some clear nail polish and constantly ask your youngster why they aren’t washing their hands properly!

Jelly juice

The night before, make some jelly in your youngster’s cup and allow it to set overnight. Give it to them in the morning and pretend to drop it all over their favourite outfit!

Change the clocks

Unless you actually have to be somewhere in the morning, turn all the clocks an hour ahead and watch your little get up a little earlier than they’d like!
