As any parent out there will know, there is often a lot of paperwork to get through before your child can start school, but one mum was recently taken aback by just how personal the line of questioning can get.

US mum Cara Paiuk has spoken of her shock and outrage after being asked in her son's kindergarten form whether he had been born vaginally or via Caesarean-section.

Sharing her story with Yahoo! Parenting, Paiuk recalled how she and her husband were attending an introductory event at her son's intended kindergarten when the issue came to her attention.

Her husband was filling out forms for school management, when Cara caught sight of the 'Birth History' section. Among questions regarding her child's birth weight and pregnancy complications was a question asking about her son's 'type of birth' - vaginal or C-section.

"I ripped it out of his hands and said, 'You can't answer that, it's none of their business.' This is kindergarten, and they want to know about my vagina! I don't understand - there's no correlation between the two for me," she told the site.

A nurse and a medical advisor assured Cara that the information was necessary in case any child experienced 'problems', and they told her that the question had been a part of their forms for 20 years.

As you can imagine, Cara was not happy with such a personal and invasive line of questioning, and she has publicly spoken of her disapproval. According to Yahoo!, the school's superintendent is now set to oversee a revision of the forms and application process.
