It’s that time of the year again, when we add ‘something for Teacher’ at the top of our shopping lists. And while we enjoy making the gesture, after a year of hard work with our precious little ones, we’re often stumped as to what to buy.

Well, we have the answer – and it’s all thanks to Aldi. The supermarket has this week launched its ‘Thank You Teacher’ flower range, with bouquets at a very affordable €3.99 going on sale from Thursday, 23rd June.

Tying in the with the campaign launch, Aldi carried out a survey to find out what teachers REALLY want at the end of the year – and it produced some interesting results.

Unsurprisingly, 65% of those surveyed admitted to re-gifting the presents they received from parents – something which MummyPages.ie’s Mum-in-Residence Laura Haugh can appreciate.

Laura told The Daily Mail: “When they get small gifts, you can understand why they are re-gifted. They tend to get candles, perfumes and body lotions – you can only have so much of that in your house.”

Mum Laura believes that a gift voucher is always the best bet – something that the teachers who took the survey agreed with.

“With more classes working on a class representative basis with the parents, and the increased use of email and Whatsapp groups of parents within classes, parents are now seeing the sense of everyone giving €5 or €10 to get a bigger gift… A gift voucher is really the ideal gift for teachers. That, or a bottle of wine!” advised Laura.
