44-year-old Sanjeev Chada has been jailed for life after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his two sons, Eoghan and Ruairí, in July of 2013.

A Child Rescue Ireland alert was put out for the two boys after their disappearance, but they were later found in the boot of Chada’s crashed car, deceased.

It was later found that the father had decided to take the boys’ life, as well as attempt to take his own, to spare them the shame of his debt and money troubles.

His wife, and mother of the two young victims, gave an emotional victim impact statement, saying: “Sanj has left me to live a double life sentence every day, with no chance of release in my lifetime.”

The heartbroken mum’s emotional statement spoke of their family life: “I thought we had a normal family blessed to have two healthy boys. How could evil such as this have been hidden for so long in a seemingly normal father? How can he have been so selfish?”

Mr Justice Paul Carney gave Sanjeev Chada two life sentences for the murder of his sons.

Our thoughts are with Kathleen at this difficult time.
