Primary schools: First week in September
Secondary schools: Circa 30th August 2013
Halloween mid-term
Schools will close from Monday 28th October 2013 to Friday 1st November 2013.
Christmas holidays
Both primary and secondary schools will close on Friday 20th December 2013, the last day of term.
All schools will re-open on Monday 6th January 2014. 
February mid-term
Primary schools close for two days on Thursday 20th February 2014 and Friday 21st February 2014.
Primary schools can opt to use three extra discretionary days to make up a five-day break for the period from Monday 17th February 2014 to Friday 21st February 2014 if there have been no unforeseen school closures.
Secondary schools will close from Monday 17th February 2014 to Friday 21st February 2014 unless there have been any days lost to unforeseen school closures. If needed the school can reduce the break by remaining open up to and including Wednesday 19th February 2014. 
St Patrick's Day
Public holiday: Monday 17th March 2014.
Easter 2014
All schools close on Friday 11th April 2014, which is the last day of the school term, unless there have been any unforeseen school closures. If a school needs to make up any time, it may reduce the break by staying open up to and including Wednesday 16th April 2014.
All schools re-open on Monday 28th April 2014
Summer holidays
Primary school: About nine weeks 
End of June until week of 1 September 2014
Secondary school: About 12 weeks
June, July and most of August 2014
