A nationwide campaign has been launched to highlight the importance of personal hygiene in an effort to stop the spread of rotavirus and numerous other gastro infections.

With cases of Rotavirus on the increase, officials believe it is essential school children are educated on the issue.

Hoping to hammer the home the importance of hand washing and the correct way to do it, Dr. Colm Moore from Rentokil Initial visited the Christ the Kings Boys school in Dublin this morning.

Using a UV light to help explain how easily germs can be spread in a classroom, the schoolboys were given a  crash course on how to prevent this.

Admitting they don’t wash their hands as often as advised, the third and fourth class pupils were advised how and why to tend to their personal hygiene during the team’s highly publicised visit to the Dublin 7 school.

There have been more reported cases of gastro-intestinal bugs in children during the first four months of 2015 than in the whole of last year.
