Special Needs Assistants are set to go on strike. It is understood that they have unanimously voted in favour of industrial action.

The announcement comes after numerous SNAs were affected by late job allocations.

97% voted in favour of strike action.

Numerous workers were left in the dark about whether or not they had secured a job. They were not given enough notice to find a new position.

Many Special Needs Assistants expressed their fury over the delayed allocations.

They hope industrial action will help make the following improvements:

  1. An earlier announcement of roles. They want the allocations to be announced no later than May.
  2. Equal job security.
  3. An agreed protocol for handling SNA problems and hardships.

It is believed that they have had to deal with late allocations for the past four years.

They have stated that ideally, they would want to find out about their employment status in May, instead of during the Autumn time.
