You don’t need to spend a fortune on your stocking fillers, especially if your little one has already asked for a pretty big main gift, but it is nice to see kids getting excited over what they’ll find in their stocking.

Here are ten fun, easy and inexpensive things you could fill it with:

Markers

Kids can never have too many markers so pick up a few washable ones and pop them in their stocking.

Colouring books

Depending on the size of the stocking, you can get your little one normal sized or even a few miniature sized colouring books. Special ones for Christmas are always a winner.

Gloves

Just like socks, gloves have a tendency to go missing, especially when youngsters tend to take them off when you aren’t looking. Go for brightly coloured ones with an animal print or a festive theme – it is Christmas after all.

Chocolate coins

There is nothing like eating chocolate at 6am to really make it feel like Christmas, so throw a few chocolate coins in their stocking.

Sweets

If you feel like Santa will be bringing your little one enough toys as it is, sweets are always a good call to fill up the stocking. You can pick up special festive candy tubes filled with sweets like Smarties, which always go down well.

Books

Kids definitely can never have too many books and a few specially chosen ones would be perfect as stocking fillers.

Arts and crafts

Arts and crafts are always a favourite on Christmas morning, so fill up the festive sock with plenty of stickers, felt, PVC glue, ribbon and paint brushes.

Hair accessories

Just like the socks and the gloves, hair bobbins and hair bands always seem to go missing, so fill little girls' the stockings up with lots of hair accessories.

Mini cars

Miniature toys like cars, trains and planes are always fun to play with in the morning – just wait until you see their face light up when they find a toy they weren’t expecting.
