The Irish Times has revealed that the number of students enrolling in private schools has increased.

They stated that the figures are similar to those during the boom, with a four percent rise in the number of children attending schools where ‘day boarding’ is offered.

Day boarding offers student after school study as well as evening meals, but those who want to avail of ‘day boarding’ are paying between €3,500 and €7,000.

The fees for private schools vary from €8000 to €23,000 as the number of students attending boarding school in Ireland grows.

Principal of St Columba’s in Whitechurch, Mark Boobbyer told the Irish Times, “What we’re seeing now is more money around, and there’s more interest in boarding, I think; that’s a trend we’re seeing generally."

He added, "There’s a bit more money around for private schools than there was after the crash.”

St Columba’s in Whitechurch, Dublin is the most expensive boarding school of the year with a €8,000 fee for day pupils and €22,800 for boarders.
