Now that the summer is here and long, warm days are expected, it is no surprise that mums will be stocking up their garden with plenty of activities to keep the kids happy and entertained. And while we all want them to spend as much time outside as possible, what happens when it rains? Bored kids cooped up in the house make for very grumpy children!

However, a new children’s series, DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge, based on the How to Train Your Dragon movies, is now available on Netflix and is sure to become a firm favourite in your home - perfect for those rainy days.

MummyPages was lucky enough to be invited along to the London première recently, and the news was met with awe when an excited seven-year-old was told she’d be the first of her friends to see it.

The all-new action packed series sees the return of Hiccup and Toothless as they discover the Dragon Eye, an ancient artefact unlocking secrets of never-before-seen dragons and faraway lands, which can only be found when they push beyond the edge.

Ignited by their find, the heroes lead Astrid, Stormfly and the Dragon Riders on a high-flying fun ride like no other. Leaving Berk behind and out on their own, they set off on action-packed adventures like never before filled with ferocious dragons, evil villains, unlikely friendships and hilarious hijinks.

The première took place in Leicester Square, right in the centre of bustling London, and guests were met with vibrant red balloons and smoke eerily creeping out of the doors as they waited to go inside! At the entrance, kids and adults alike were excitedly met by Vikings who supplied the youngsters with helmets and swords before they were sent on a quest to find their very own dragons.

Decorated with all things Netflix and dragon-related, the kids, much to their delight, were treated to goblets of juice and sandwiches cut into dragon shapes. They were overwhelmed by the amount of arts and crafts that adorned the tables, and spent hours creating their very own sword masterpieces before being excitedly escorted to comfy red cushions and settled down for the show.

For over an hour, children as young as three quietly sat and enjoyed the first two episodes – something that is certainly no mean feat. Tiny faces were glued to the screen as Hiccup, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs started out on a journey that would take them to undiscovered lands where unexplored dragons roamed.

Dragon cake, no less, was served while boys and girls patiently waited for episode two to be shown, and as second helpings were dished out, Hiccup and his friends met their match with the Snow Wraith.

More dragon fun followed before one very sleepy, but very delighted, little girl boarded the plane, all talk of dragons and what was going to happen next.

It's safe to say rainy days are not going to be an issue in our house anymore!

All episodes are available on Netflix now.
