Two young boys, both aged 9, were found dead today after a reported stabbing incident at a house in Charleville, Co. Cork.
 
The children, who are believed to be brothers, were found in the house about 5.30pm this evening.
 
Gardaí are currently at the scene in the Deer Park area.
 
The N20 Limerick to Cork road between O’Rourke’s Cross and Charleville has been closed.
 
Update - 6.55pm: Gardaí believe the discovery of a man's body in Buttevant, Co. Cork may be linked to the earlier incident in Charleville.
 
Update - 7.55pm: Gardai have released a statement: "Gardai in Charleville, Co Cork are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the bodies of two young boys (both 9 years old) in a house in Deerpark, Charleville shortly before 5pm on the 4th September 2014. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The bodies remain at the scene and the area has been sealed off for technical examination, diversions are in place. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and post mortems expected to be carried out tomorrow on the bodies of the two children. Gardai in Charleville are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
