A man in his 20s has been arrested following a horrific petrol bomb attack in Waterford city that has left two children in hospital.
A family were in their sitting room at 9pm last night, when a bomb was thrown through their window, seriously injuring a one-year-old baby girl and her 11-year-old sister.
A four-month-old boy was also in the house, but was uninjured.
The children were sitting on their sofa at the time, but luckily their grandmother was able to extinguish the flames before more damage and injury could take place.
The children were rushed to hospital and treated for burns and cuts from flying glass.
One girl was flown to Cork University Hospital for specialist treatment, while the other remains in Waterford Regional Hospital. The girls' injuries are serious, but not believed to be life threatening.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses for information about the attack, particularly in relation to two men seen running from the scene.
