Your child does a lot during those three hours that they are in preschool, so much so that you would need to be a fly on the wall to know exactly what they get up to.

The alphabet
One of the most important things your preschoolers will learn is the 26 letters of the alphabet. Though the use of sounds, touch and sight, your toddler will learn how to make the shape of a particular letter with their finger and how to write simple words, such as their own name. They will learn to say each letter and to connect sounds to words like 'sssss' for snake
Shapes
Your toddler will be taught how to recognise shapes and to draw them. Through the use of play and art, kids will learn the name of each shape. They will learn how to connect certain shapes with familiar objects.
Numbers
They will learn to identify numbers and how to count from 0 – 10. Through the use of blocks and number lines, preschoolers will learn to recognise numbers and say them aloud. They may even be taught them in another language, although this depends on the school you enrol them in.
Hand eye coordination
Through the use of cutting, drawing, colouring, painting, and scribbling, preschoolers will learn to develop good hand eye coordination. Playing with sand and Play Doh will help them to really get to grips of their fingers and hands.
Social skills
In preschool, toddlers will learn how to share, behave with and treat others. They will also learn about manners and how to communicate with their peers and adults.
Practical skills
Through role play and activities, your little one will be taught how to behave around the house, to put on their own coat, to open and close their school bag and take out their lunch.
Responsibility and independence
Getting them ready for primary school, preschoolers will be taught how to be responsible and independent. This may include being in charge of collecting cups after lunch or hanging their coat a school bag up in the morning.
