Why does my child seem to constantly have a cold?

When you get a cold, it is caused by a virus attacking your body.  As adults, we seem to get one or maybe two colds a year so why then does it seem that your is constantly suffering from a cold or flu. The reason for this is that as adults we have built up an immunity to lots of different viruses that cause colds but your small child is still developing this immunity. As they get older, they will have more colds and therefore build up their immunity levels.

A two to three year old can have as many as eight or ten colds a year while your teen will probably only get two or three over the space of a year. A cold will generally last about a week and while they are a nuisance, it's best to just keep your child warm, give her plenty of fluids and let it run it's course.
