You asked

Why is my child so fascinated with absolutely everything?

There’s a good chance that you’ve noticed your 21 month old inspecting just about everything he or she can get their hands on. That’s because your child is more physically able to bend and reach for small objects. You may even notice your child picking up (and trying to eat) bugs!

Your child is probably able to name most of his or her body parts, or at the very least point to them when asked. He or she is also probably drawing and scribbling more, and may even sit for a few minutes by him or herself, and read a book or play with a puzzle.

Keep giving your toddler books, and opportunities to examine the things in them, and around him or her, in detail. Spend time in the garden, looking at flowers close up, or take your child to a museum or petting zoo, where he or she can take a good, hard look at new and interesting things.

Up to the age of three, your toddler will be over separation anxiety.
