You’re probably wondering what happened to your child over the last few months. Whereas before, you were trying to encourage speech and language development, now, it seems, you can’t keep your child quiet longer for more than a minute. This is perfectly normal, and the good news is that it makes communication a lot easier!

Instead of having to guess what your child wants most of the time, you’re probably finding that at least three quarters of the time, you can understand what he or she is saying. Your child is probably also using three or four word sentences, and has a vocabulary of between one thousand and one and a half thousand words.

You’ll notice that your child is asking questions, and eager to talk and even sing. He or she is probably also using plurals, and even adjectives, and it’s much more dual sided when you converse now.

Don’t be alarmed if your child still mispronounces some words, or gets sounds mixed up. That is normal for this age group.
