Many of us look back on our summer holidays from school with find memories, and this is exactly the way we want our kids to feel when they are older!

The summer is all about making friends, having fun and creating the most incredible memories that will last forever.

1. Eating sand in their sandwiches!

There is nothing quite like heading to the beach to cool down on a hot day! And no summer would ever be complete without eating a ham sandwich with a hint of sand in it!

2. Running away from seaweed

The sea is the perfect way to relax and while away an afternoon, until seaweed gets stuck on your kid’s foot and they run up the beach thinking they’re being attacked by a fish!

3. Staying up late

Staying up late is a rite of passage during the summer months; Long gone are the 7:30pm curfews, the kids are out playing well into the night!

4. Star gazing

Clear skies make perfect star gazing opportunities; Grab a blanket and head out after dark and see what you can find!

5. Going on a road trip

Even if you’re only heading to Grandma’s, a road trip is the ultimate summer memory. Listening to the radio, playing eye spy, bickering with siblings, it is one of those trips that stick in their memory long after they are too old to want to go on trips with you!

6. Having a water fight

Walking into the house soaked to the bone only to be sent straight back out by your mother is a memory that all children should have.

7. Eating outside

Whether it’s a full on BBQ or you’ve just decided to give the kids a salad outside, most of us remember this kind of thing growing up.

8. Walking outside without shoes on

The feel of the hot ground on your feet is something that should be experienced by everyone!

9. Spending the day at the beach

And returning home exhausted, hungry and full of amazing memories.

10. Playing with their friends

You don’t need to do anything fancy for your kids to have a memorable summer, they’re pretty good at creating their own fun.
