We all know just how hard it is to raise children and just how easy it is to take certain things for granted, like that they will be kids forever.

We all lead such busy lives these days, and as we rush to and from work, hastily prepare the dinner before sending the kids to bed at a recommended time, we can assume that things will stay the same – until you suddenly realise just how much your son or daughter has changed in a matter of weeks.

Instead of wanting them to grow up so that they can pick their uniform up off the floor, embrace them for who they are now – they won’t be long changing.

1. Their curiosity

Your little won't keep asking why the clouds are blue or how birds fly, soon they won't care as their attention is turned elsewhere.

2. Their enthusiasm to learn

It’s now, before exams and stressful subjects, that kids can truly enjoy learning.

3. Their high self-esteem

It won’t be long before they are worried about what they are wearing or how they look.

4. Their belief in their ability to do anything

When they’re eight being a super hero is a possibility – but they become more realistic and, perhaps a little cynical, when they reach their teen years.

5. Their hugs and kisses

Soon they’ll be too grown up to get kisses never mind give them.

6. Their lack of awareness of the surrounding world

Until the bad things on the news start to creep into the playground.

7. Their playfulness

It'll be all about TV shows, social media and hanging out before long.

8. Their innocence

They'll be big and bold and looking at the world with a more cynical eye as they enter the teenage years.

9. Their desire to engage you in play

They'll be too embarrassed by you before long, so make the most of it now.

10. That they will be small forever

Soon they’ll be all grown up and thinking the very same things that you’re thinking about right now.
