Police in the UK are currently investigating a road traffic accident which resulted in the death of a four-year-old girl named Mitzi Rosanna Steady.

The incident which took place just after 4pm on Monday in Upper Weston in Bath, Somerset also claimed the lives of three men from South Wales, aged between 30 and 60.

The tragic accident occurred when a 32-tonne truck lost control and crashed into cars and pedestrians while travelling down a steep hill in Upper Weston.

The area in which the fatal collision took place was particularly busy at the time with parents collecting their children from school.

Mitzi's grandmother was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol following the incident.

Commenting on events, Avon and Somerset Police Chief Inspector Norman Pascal said: "This is a tragic incident in which three men and a young girl have lost their lives and we're carrying out a full and meticulous investigation to find out what happened."

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the truck driver was trying to avoid an accident.
