It's easy to dread those long family journeys, especially the many complaints that can come from our tots along the way. But fear not, here are six ways to keep your little one busy on the many family trips ahead:

Crayons and paper
It may get messy but it will keep your tots busy for a few hours on those long trips ahead. However if you want to avoid getting any crayon designs on your car seats - Crayola water products are a great way to keep your tot’s creativity on paper.

Play dough
Play dough is a favourite for our little tots but it can get messy in the backseat. One way to ensure your little one doesn’t get their play dough stuck to their car seat is by using a mini mat or board to place their play dough on. Place the mini board or mat on their knees and it will go some way to minimizing any play dough damage.

Plane Games
You can organise a mini scavenger hunt for your tot by simply using some of the plane magazines. Your little one could be looking something red, blue or any objects throughout the magazine and tick everything that they do find in a notebook. Another great way of using the aeroplane magazine is by playing a game of 'I Spy' by using a busy page of the magazine.

Card Game
That long bus trip, flight or even train journey could be the prime opportunity to teach your little one some easy card games. From Go Fish to Old Maid, it can pass the time as well as great bonding opportunities for the family.

Learning packs
Thankfully there are plenty of handy learning packs that are perfect to bring for the many roadtrips ahead. This is particularly handy if your preschooler is into doing some pen and paper activities. There is also free printable preschool and learning booklets online which are great for distracting your tot on the summer trips ahead.

A book of their journey
While your tot is probably still getting to grasps with their handwriting they can still keep a mini journal of their journey. There they can either jot or draw some of the many sights that they've seen throughout their trip. This is not only a great way of keeping your little one busy but is a great way for them to practice their handwriting skills as well.
