When Carson’s mum, Courtney, went to check on her son at 7.30pm only to find him gone from the house, panic struck her.

Courtney and her husband, Brock, searched their house and property for an hour before calling the police and reporting their son missing.

The family, from North Dakota in the US, were frantic looking for their son and the police sent out a helicopter, over 200 volunteers and sixty Jeeps.

Following seven hours of intense searching, Carson was found a mile away from his home. If it wasn't for their family dog, Cooper, who stuck his head out of tall grass when he heard the truck, they may not have found him.

Cooper had followed the boy and kept him warm by covering the young child in the cold. Carson told his mum that "Cooper stayed on top of him and kept him safe and warm.”
