A father in Florida was so terrified that he would get in trouble for spanking his child that he called the police and asked them to come and supervise him.
While spanking a child in the American state of Florida is legal, Sheriff for Okeechobee, Noel Stephen says “there is a big difference between beating your child and disciplining your child” and the father was fearful that he would be arrested.
However, the officer who witnessed the incident determined that the father had not committed a crime.
Surprisingly, officers didn’t find this a strange request with the Sheriff admitting that he has had 12 calls like this before.
However he did add, "[This is] definitely not something we advise to do, and even though law enforcement has been willing to help out in this situation, watching a parent discipline their child is something that’s done only when a deputy has no other calls to handle."
