The body of a two-year-old boy has been discovered in the Ridge Hall apartment complex on the Shanganagh Road, Shankill, south Dublin.
Gardaí were called to the scene around 2pm, where the boy was discovered with a stab wound. The child was later pronounced dead by a doctor.
A woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene and is being held at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station for questioning.
Police have sealed the area and preserved the scene for forensic examination, and the State Pathologist has been notified.
