A photograph of a five-year-old girl taken at a “Twelfth of July” party has now gone viral for the wrong reasons.

The photo which was posted on Facebook, shows the little girl with a sectarian slogan of “KAT” (Kill All Taigs) an anti-Catholic message painted on her face.

The mother has since denied that she was “teaching her daughter to hate Catholics”, and said she had not seen her daughter’s face paint before it was done.

“The kids got the paints and wrote it... They see it all the time sprayed all over the walls.”

The image of the little girl was shared on Facebook, where a friend was quick to express her concern over the face paint but was reassured that she won’t “be leaving alliance road”.

The image was screen grabbed and soon made its way to the front page of Reddit Ireland, with user describing the image as “hate breeding hate”.

The PSNI have since confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
