When it comes to packing for a child there are so many things to remember and consider that it can be easy to forget basic essentials or the teddy that they just can’t sleep without.
No matter where you are going or whether you are taking the boat, catching a flight, train or going by car, there are a few essentials you need to pack in a bag just for your child.
Medicines
If your little one is on prescribed medication, don’t forget to take it with you along with the prescription just in case you need to get another supply or you are stopped going through security. You will also need to bring along medicine that contians Ibuprofen or paracetemol if your little one gets sick abroad. Depending on where you are going you may not be able to buy them over there.
First aid kid
Build your own first aid kit and pop in antiseptic cream, plasters, cotton buds and a bandage. While you will be able to pick these kinds of things up abroad, it is handy and cheaper to bring your own so that you aren’t frantically looking for a shop that sells them. You should also put insect repellent and ear drops in there just in case.
Clothing
Depending on where you are going you will need to bring either warm clothes or light summer wear. Pack according to destination but even if you are going to a warmer climate, pop a jumper in the bag as it will come in handy if it gets chilly while you are out for dinner.
Beach essentials
If you are going on a beach holiday, you will need towels, suncream, UV suits, swimming cap, bucket and spade, flip flops or beach shoes and sunglasses.
Favourites
Don’t forget your little one’s favourites like their teddy, book and blanket. If you forget these you might end up having to spend the trip consoling your child.
Hand luggage essentials
You will need a separate bag that your little one can carry around themselves either as hand luggage on a plane or to take with them up to deck on a boat. Pop magazines, books, colours, paper, special toys and travel games along with some snacks into the bag. If the journey is going to be long these will definitely come in handy.
