Social media has become instrumental when it comes to sharing an idea or a movement in this modern world, but this worldwide access into a person’s life opens them up to the full range of reactions– and it’s not always pretty or positive.

This is something that 21-year-old mother Haddas Ancliffe learned recently, when a photo of herself breastfeeding son Jonah at a wedding split opinion.

Haddas, who is an avid Instagram fan, is a keen advocate of the ‘normalise breastfeeding’ campaign, and many of her posts feature her nursing her tot. However, it was a recent shot of her ‘having a drink’ with her son at a wedding that prompted debate.

“Just me and my baby having a drink. (Gotta do what you gotta do, wedding or not),” she wrote, beside the shot of her nursing her son, adding in the hashtag ‘normalise breastfeeding’.

While many people applauded her for spotlighting such an important issue however, others weren’t so impressed with how she chose to do so.

With a number of followers slamming Haddas for ‘seeking attention’ with her shot, one Insta user wrote: “How old is that kid? You’re using someone’s wedding as a soapbox.”

Thankfully, others were much more supportive and shared kind messages of encouragement.

“Kudos to you!!...Breastfeeding is the most natural and beneficial thing for a child!” wrote one user.

Are you surprised by the attention Haddas’ image has garnered?
