Safe and secure footwear for your little one’s first steps

Your child taking their first steps is one of the most memorable milestones for a parent to see, and one of the most important for their development. Watching them put one foot in front of the other is a proud moment for any parent, and a sure sign of them getting older. This is why the noteworthy experience of their first steps should be aided by shoes that give your little ones the support they need to make those all-important first steps, and continue their walking development.

Journey to success

Biomecanics have developed footwear for children and babies that are the most recommended by paediatricians and childcare professionals. This market leader in children and babies’ footwear knows exactly what support your child needs to take their first steps and beyond.

Biomecanics found that all children’s shoes were miniature versions of adult shoes and with this in mind, they decided to work towards finding the needs of the child’s foot, and to create a shoe that would adapt to these needs.

Since setting this challenge for themselves, they collaborated with the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV), whose technology centre is dedicated to studying the behaviour of the human body and its relationship with any products, environments and services that people use. With a winning combination of knowledge from biomechanics, ergonomics and emotional engineering, this collaboration was destined for success.

Due to this collaboration and numerous studies with children and babies, Biomecanics achieved its objective to manufacture a shoe that adapts to the needs of young children’s feet from the crawling stage, all the way up to the walking stage.

Different needs at different stages

Biogateo: Crawling & the first steps stage

This line provides security and stability that babies need when in uncontrolled environments that protects the foot without restricting it. This allows them to have the freedom of movement so that their feet can grow and develop naturally.

Shoes for this stage have a slightly wider base at the heel to facilitate balance and avoid any pressure on the foot. These shoes have a flexible two-way sole that is specially adapted to the most common movement of little ones at this stage, so your child can move about as they usually do. The U-shaped cleat avoids pressure on the Achilles tendon, allowing the ankle to move, letting your child get used to walking in their own way.

Bioevolution- Walking stage

A child’s physical activity increases hugely during the gait development stage, so having the appropriate shoes for them is so important. The Bioevolution line of children’s shoes is able to withstand intensive use when your little one walks and runs more. These shoes allow freedom of movement and adapt to the growth of the foot, which happens in the length and width of the foot at this stage, so no more tears over tight shoes while your child’s foot develops.
