Parents and children alike always look forward to midterm break. But often when it comes around, we find that our kids can get bored easily and find themselves wishing the time away.

Here are a few tips for making the very most of this precious time off.

Sign up to a class

Find out if there is a particular hobby or sport that your child enjoys or would like to explore further, and sign them up for a class. Midterm is always a busy time for camps and classes, and it’s a great way for kids to make new friends while having fun.

Invest in some apps

With so many young kids now owners of tablets and other tech devices – whether for school or entertainment – it’s a good idea to switch things up with some fun apps. There is a broad range of fun and educational apps available that will not only pass the time, but will also keep your kids’ brains challenged during the school break.

Plan an ‘event day’

Whether it’s a trip to the National Museum or to a local beauty spot, plan to spend some quality time together that incorporates new sights, and maybe even a bit of culture. Local organisations are always running events and exhibitions for families to enjoy free of charge, so be sure to do a bit of research on what might be coming up in your area.

Organise playdates

Everyone is a winner with a playdate. While your child gets the chance to meet up with their friend for a bit of fun, sharing playdate responsibility with other parents makes it far easier to work around strict schedules.
