Even with the appropriate treatment, children with dyslexia can find school a struggle. It’s essential to support your child’s efforts by offering encouragement and reading together at home.  Also, give your child opportunities to build confidence and be successful in other areas, such as sports, hobbies, art and drama.

Dyslexia doesn’t have to stand in your way of success. It doesn’t mean that you or your child’s teachers should lower your expectations for your child. Artists, athletes, scientists and politicians have all been able to achieve great things regardless of having problems with reading.

If you are worried that your child might be dyslexic, speak to your child’s teacher or G.P. The sooner a reading problem is addressed, the sooner your child can get the correct help.
