A nursery school teacher has cut her off the long locks she’s been growing since she was a little girl to raise money for a children's charity.

Li Qing hadn't cut her hair since she was eight years old, growing it to an amazing 1.6m!

But after 17 years of wearing it in a long plait, she decided to cut it off in a bid to raise money for a children's charity.

"The kids were calling me 'Teacher Long Hair'." the 25-year-old from eastern China said.

"I am a kindergarten teacher, and love kids a lot. I would love to sell my hair to help some poor kids to enter into kindergarten."

After finding a buyer who was willing to pay hundreds of euro for it - she had it cut at a local barbers.

Li has no regrets about having the chop.

"My hair is like my pal which grew up with me. However, I am glad if I can help some kids."
