If can be frustrating if your toddler used to eat a variety of foods only to start refusing their favourites after a few weeks.  However, rather than let it get you down there are a number of things that you can do.

Let them feed themselves

Toddlers love picking up food with their hands and they might become frustrated and refuse to eat if you insist on feeding them, so let them do it themselves.

Introduce something different

We all get bored of eating the same foods everyday and it’s the same for our toddlers. If you find that you are giving your little one the same food regularly because they loved it they could, in fact, be bored of it.

Don’t try too many new things

While they might be a little fatigued by their food choices don’t overwhelm them with too many new things. If you do want to introduce something new, rather than piling their plate full of unfamiliar items serve them one new thing with something they like.

Don’t let them snack during the day

One of the reasons your little one might have suddenly become a fussy eater is because they simply aren’t hungry. Try to limit the amount of snacks your little one has between meals and if they are feeling peckish before lunch or dinner give them some fruit sticks to munch on.

Don’t force them to eat

Just like adults, some children simply don’t like a certain type of food and no matter how much you may bribe or encourage them to eat it, they just won’t. Don’t waste your energy forcing your child to eat something or worry about them not getting enough food. Most kids when hungry will eat anything.

If you are in anyway worried about your child’s eating or lack thereof, take them to the GP. While fussy eating is usually just a phase that a lot of kids go through, if you are concerned there is no harm seeking help from a professional.
