A new invention could help parents keep track of their children without having to buy them expensive smartphones that may easily get lost or stolen.

The new wristband invention is called Tinitell and was created by Mat Horns in Sweden. It is thought the invention is the smallest commercial mobile phone on the market.

The wristband smartphone will feature a large button in the middle that will allow children to easily call their parents and uses voice recognition.

Parents will also be able to keep track of where their children are thanks to a GPS system that can be accessed via an app on a smartphone.

Mat says he came up with the idea when he was over at a friend's house and his friend's son wished to play outside: "He had lost a cellphone once before and we didn't feel like lending out our smartphones. Worst of all, we couldn't join him outside because we were busy cooking dinner. His son ended up playing in his room with his iPad, and I thought that was sad."

The item is available to pre-order on Kickstarter while Mat puts in the final effort to raise the money to get the smart wristband into production.
