You asked

When can we start taking our child to the cinema?

The cinema can be a great way for your toddler to see real-life situations and learn about the world around them. However, there are many movies that a toddler just should not attend.
When you feel that it is the right time to start taking your child to the cinema, make sure that you investigate the films available before you go. You’ll want to avoid any movie that is not age appropriate as young children scare easily and can become confused if there is too much action and noise.

A child at this age can let their imaginations run wild. Even some children’s films can scare your toddler. They may associate a scene in the film with their own family or home and inevitably become confused. If this happens, make sure to talk to your child about what she has seen that scared her and answer her questions the best you can.

When you decide to take your toddler to the cinema, do not expect that they will remain seated for the entire film. You will have to get up with them and walk around several times or take bathroom breaks.

A good suggestion is to wait a couple of weeks after a film is released, and then take your child to an afternoon matinee. The audience will be smaller and you will have your choice of seating. It’s best to sit close to the aisle or in a seat that allows your child to get up and move around.

Also, make sure to bring plenty of snacks. The snack-bars are filled with foods that are not very nutritious and are loaded with sugar, which you will want to avoid at all costs.
