It is possible that your child can get too much iron. Excessive amounts of which can be toxic. Unless your child eats several servings of fortified foods, however, it is almost impossible to get too much iron from food.
The maximum amount of iron that is considered safe for a child is 40mg per day. Therefore it is recommended to keep iron supplements out of reach of children. Additionally, don’t encourage kids to take any chewable vitamins as a ‘treat’ as they may take them when you’re not looking.
