Week 1 Armed with my trusty shopping list I was very excited to start my 4-week Lidl shopping experience and put the store to its ultimate test! I have often popped into Lidl to pick up some bread, milk and other emergency essentials since its arrival in my local area of Stillorgan. However I have never attempted to do a full grocery shop there as I had this notion that I wouldn't be able to...

Sadly, I wasn’t the lucky 5.5 million euro jackpot winner last Saturday. When I heard there had been a winner I knew it wasn’t me because I never remember to buy a ticket... Probably for the best really, I’m not sure that much money can be good for a person, unless you immediately gave the majority of it away. I wouldn’t mind ten grand though; ten grand would be lovely. My family is not...

Joan celebrated her 5th birthday earlier this month on the 4th of May, and she did it in style! We were in Canada for two weeks just before her birthday and she had two parties while we were there; my mother’s side and my father’s side wanted to celebrate with her and it was lovely as it was her first birthday I was able to spend with my family. When we returned home she had three more...

I have always worked while rearing my children. For most of those 18 years, I’ve worked from home, but soon I’ll be in an office 20 miles away, and flexitime is not an option. This is of little consequence to the older two, whose awareness of my presence correlates to the supply of clean socks and pizzas in the house. The youngest is an entirely different story, however. This is a girl who...

I know a lot of working mums really struggle to find time to squeeze in workouts between their family and job. My advice is always GET IT DONE FIRST THING. Even if that means you to get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier. Yes, getting out of bed can be a bit painful but I promise you, you will never regret that workout once it's done NEVER. You will always be glad you pulled yourself out of bed, put...

My husband and I have two children under two years of age, so at some point in the last 2 years + 9 months we definitely had sex at least twice. We ate out at ridiculously expensive restaurants and at the drop of a hat flew off on city breaks for the weekend. Yes, a change has come, and yes, mini versions of yourself will impact on your love life, but adopting spontaneity and a greater level of...

Being a mum is one of the toughest jobs ANY woman will ever have to do. And while a lot of the tasks that we as mums do on a daily basis go unnoticed by our offspring (like how clean clothes just magically appear in their wardrobe), it doesn't go by everyone unseen - well, not me anyway. I may not be a mum, or have firsthand experience of the frustrations of dealing with a temper tantrum in...

When you're single and childless no one cares, much less notices, whether you're religious or not - we're all just happy out breaking the odd little commandment along the way, what harm? You decide to get married, forgoing the traditional church route of a nice little turn at the altar to exchange vows in some cramped registry office, and you immediately sense it: unrest, people...

I am writing this from a bed in Tallaght hospital after being admitted following the worst abdominal pain I have experienced. They have decided to keep me in for tests but I am wishing and wishing I was at home with the babies - this is the last thing I need. Thankfully, my mum is staying with us as were are getting them christened on Sunday, so she there holding the fort while my husband works...
