I have been a mother for almost 19 years, and during that time there is one question I have been asked at least once by all three of my children. It has nothing to do with the origin of babies, the identity of Santa Claus, or why that lady sitting right in front of us on the train has hair growing out of her nose. The one thing that seems to bother all of them is whether he or she is my favourite...

I was recently chatting to a few mummy friends on social media, and the conversation turned to caesareans - what with April being C-section awareness month and all. Someone shared a blog post about the different (and totally unacceptable) things people have said to women who had their babies delivered by section. It made me recall something that happened to me shortly after I had my second baby...

The key to getting maximum and effective results from any after-pregnancy diet is to do it healthily and gradually. It is not recommended that you undertake a strict diet soon after giving birth; moms, especially those who are nursing, need a minimum of 1,500 calories a day to keep their energy levels up, so that they can perform their fit mommy duties at an optimum level. Losing a pound per week...

The three-year-old was going through an extended period of tantrums, whining, complaining, obstinacy, sulks and any other kind of negative you can think of for a pre-schooler. She refuses to sit in her seat when we get into the car, slipping will’o wisp style into the front seats, always one step ahead of my grasp. When we arrive home she refuses to get out. You can’t see the car from the...

I still remember the first time I visited LA. It was the second stop during my trip around the world and I was super excited, walking around with my eyes wide open. As my travel companion Anna was not so much into LA (suuuuch a long story ;)), I did a tour on my own, exploring the city of angels. I went to the hills, looking at houses of celebrities and the tour also took me to the beaches, where...

A recent Mummypages.ie survey revealed that Kids birthday parties are costing Irish parents on average €5,000 a year. Parents who took part in the survey claimed they spent an average of six weeks planning a child’s party. That got me thinking about the time, cost and stress that mums go through in planning every detail for special occasions such as birthday parties, communions, confirmations...

The trip home started with a four and a half hour drive from our hotel in Reading, located near Legoland, to the port of Holyhead in Wales. Here we would board a ferry which would take us to Dublin port in just over three hours. The driving conditions were perfect, we got up early and were on the road by 7:30am. We had everything packed from the night before and even organised breakfast...

Today, I downloaded the Q-Bot smartphone app from the Legoland website and got ahead of the crowds on the children's favourite rides from yesterday. The Atlantis Submarine was their absolute favourite and mum and dad's too! We also had time to visit the 4-D Legoland movie today as we had just focused on the rides the previous day. The highlight for the children was seeing a special live...

The Novotel hotel was just a short 35 minutes drive to Legoland. Google Maps came to our rescue again here and guided us to the theme park with precision accuracy. Today, being the Friday that the Easter holidays commenced, the English schools were still in session until the late afternoon so we had Legoland practically to ourselves! The queues for the rides and attractions were only a few short...

If you woke up on Monday morning with a head that felt like you had downed multiple tequila shots on Sunday night, don't worry because you're not alone. Having struggled through the 40 days and nights of Lent without a morsel of chocolate crossing my lips, I fell upon my Easter morning goodies with a glee normally reserved for an empty house and a hot bath. But within 45 minutes of tucking...
