I had quite an eventful Lidl shopping trip this week, in that I had to make two trips! I am usually a 'one big weekly shop' kind of mum but this week we had to make a mad premature dash to the cashier half-way through as my daughter desperately needed the bathroom all of a sudden! Although this sudden urge didn't come upon her until we had visited the ice-cream freezer section...I...

There has been a robin in my garden every day for the last two weeks (or so it seems) - and I think it's a sign my dad is keeping an eye on me. I have had a few brief teary moments while making big decisions over the past few weeks: Do I have surgery? Do I not? Do I return to work or do I not? I've also been tired and I'm missing my family in England a lot; wishing they were here for...

As with most of the country I headed off to do my weekly shop this week with thoughts of BBQ and al fresco meals. Lidl was the perfect spot for this as they had such a range of proteins (perfect for BBQs) and a huge variety of salads and fresh fruit, perfect for outdoor eating. We spent the bank holiday weekend outdoors having a picnic at Powerscourt Waterfall on the first day with fab bread...

Having batch cooked some of my meals using Lidl purchases from the last two weeks I was able to shop very economically this week. In keeping with my batch-cooking way of life for this busy working mum, I bought an extra large tray of chicken fillets, two jars of Kanpur Garden Korma Cooking Sauce, and a trio of fresh peppers to make one of our family favourites! By bulking up the dish with the...

I now feel like a regular at Lidl. I have been going to my two local branches for the last three weeks and am enjoying the experience and particularly, the savings. I love the bakery and the fresh fruit and veg sections, so this week I decided to explore some more of the meat and fish on offer. I got two rib eye steaks for the BBQ for €7.99. They were really tasty and tender. I am a big fan of...

This week’s shop took much less time as I now know where most of the items I needed are located in the store. Again the store wasn’t overly busy so there was no battling my way around the aisles which I hate. We decided to have a BBQ given the fine weather so I picked up some Striploin Steaks at €4.29 each for Desy and myself. I had planned to take a picture of these when they were cooked...

Week 3 with 2 additional teenage guests from France in the house I really wasn't quite sure if €100 would do 8 of us! I ventured alone this week for my weekly shop to focus. With no calculator in hand off I went. This week I will admit to stocking up on burgers, chicken nuggets, pizzas, crisps and bakery goodies along with the norm. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fresh Inisvale...

I'm a 1st time mum and looking for advice on Breastpumps. I know you can buy or rent them - just wondering what people are doing and any preferences?

One of the things I never really thought about before I became a mum was family dinners. When you are just feeding yourself and you’re running in from work you’re able to literally chuck something in the oven and get on with it. But it's different when you've got kids. Not only do you have to think about what you’re going to cook, but whether the little ones are going to turn their...

Our shopping adventures this week I took my younger two daughters aged 10 and 12 respectively. I knew I would have to keep a watchful eye as there was a strong possibility of my trolley filling up with goodies. There was lots happening in our local Lidl this weekend with family fun and bargains to be had. The shop was very busy although we had waited to avoid the madness of the Family Day. With...
