This really is a bittersweet story that is sure to warm your heart.

After 13-year-old Devin was told he was no longer responding to treatment for aggressive brain cancer, members of his small Ohio town came together to make the young teen’s wish come true.

On receiving the news from doctors, Devin said all he wanted was to spend time at home with his family and friends and get the chance to celebrate Christmas.

However, due to the serious nature of his illness, Devin has only been given weeks and is unlikely to make it to the end of December, so friends and neighbours took things into their own hands.

When Devin returned from the local children’s hospital, hundreds of locals lined the streets to welcome him home.

"When we got over the bay we could see all the police cars, fire trucks, and everything lined up with lights," said Devin’s mum, Alexis. "I told him that they were all there for him and his eyes were huge!"

The next day, community members met in the park outside Devin’s house and covered trees in Christmas decorations, hung festive fairy lights and released hundreds of balloons. As if that wasn’t wonderful enough, they even had snow delivered and built snowmen in an attempt to give Devin a final magical Christmas.
