With addictive shows like Breaking Bad, Homeland and Games of Thrones taking up part of everyone's day, it's not surprising that names like Dana, Skyler, Brody and Arya have increased in popularity.

While many presumed George would be a favourite name among expectant parents in the UK, it has actually been pushed out of the top ten due to mums worrying they'll be considered a 'Kate copycat'.

As other royal names like William, Harry, Charles and Catherine drop in popularity, Breaking Bad’s Jesse increased by 13%, while the name Skyler rose in popularity by 70%. The number of newborns named Carrie rose by a whopping 200%.

It is not uncommon for mums to name their baby after a celebrity or a royal, but finding inspiration from television characters seems to be current trend.

And when you consider how consuming a particularly good television show can be, it's easy to see how mums could be swayed when thinking up names.
