Budget 2014 described as anti-women

The National Women’s Council of Ireland have described yesterday’s budget as “not in the best interest of women, their children or indeed, society as a whole”.

Following the announcement that the One Parent Family tax credit will come to an end, while maternity benefit takes a second cut, women’s groups have come out against Minister Noonan’s budget.

The One Family organisation says replacing the One Parent Family tax credit with a Single Person Child Carer payable only to the ‘primary carer’ shows the government doesn’t understand shared parenting.

However, a warm welcome has been given to the introduction of free GP care for under-fives.

What do you think? Was Budget 2014 anti-family? Were you badly affected?
