My second's week shopping in Lidl was even more successful than the first!  I had a much better idea of where the items I needed were located within the supermarket, added to the fact that I visited on a weekday morning so it was nice and quiet and the shelves had all been restocked from the night before.

I was tempted again by the fresh bakery smells and I bought a stunning pumpkin seed wholegrain loaf. I availed of the efficient bread-slicing machine, which was simple to use and would save me cutting unnecessarily extra thick slices at home. I bought lots of fresh fruit and salad type vegetables which were all incredible value, the baby plum tomatoes were especially good value along with the trio of sweet peppers.

I figured I'd try some new meat choices in the chilled chest fridges this week even though the minute steaks were a roaring success last week. I bought an XL chicken, which had so much meat on it that we were able to get a full family meal and still have lots of cold chicken left over for salads and sandwiches over the long bank holiday weekend. I also tried two packets of the Inisvale 12 meatballs and cooked them in my Le Creuset casserole dish paired with a family size jar of tomato pasta sauce - producing an effortless meal in 40 minutes.

My cheat night was the Lidl ready-made lasagne teamed with fresh garlic bread baguettes and salad. It was a big hit with the whole family and definitely much cheaper and tastier than getting a takeaway!

The Lidl chilled butcher-style beef burgers and sausages were purchased and then purchased again over the long weekend with BBQ season in full flight!

My favourite purchase this week has to be the Cien tropical mango shower gel which is simply bursting with delicious fragrance that it's almost good enough to eat. Honestly, it transported me back to my honeymoon in Barbados such was the nature of the exotic smell, I shall definitely be purchasing again.

I spent just €79 on a full family shop this week, again half the price I would normally pay - I'm so glad that my second week's shop proves that the first one wasn't a one-off!
