Modern day pressures are causing new mums to develop depression
A new poll has revealed that new mothers are developing depression as they feel under pressure to get everything right.
Results shows that new mothers are more likely to worry about money and childcare with some feeling they can’t cope at all.
Up to one in seven women experience a mental health problem during or after pregnancy but, worryingly, a lot of new mums don’t feel like they can talk to their healthcare worker about how they feel.
Jane Brewin, CEO of Tommy's, which was involved in the poll, states, “Pregnancy and motherhood are life-changing experiences and on top of the physical changes and new responsibilities, many women are scared of doing the “wrong” thing or fear they will “fail” as a mum.
What do you think? Did you experience depression during pregnancy or after pregnancy? Did you receive good support?
