My first week is complete and it’s time to face the hour of reckoning

I followed the plan meticulously and enthusiastically, so I was looking forward to my meeting with the Motivation team. I can’t guarantee this will always be the case, so I guess it’s important to bank this ‘feel good’ factor now for use later on in the process.
I exercised well, ate as per the plan, used the motivational tools and recorded my motivation as 8 out of 10, which is pretty high.

Everything came together easily once I took a little time to read through the plan. I never felt hungry or deprived, and I even managed to attend a Ball and two concerts during the week, which, weight loss aside, is a major achievement considering my family situation.

Quietly confident, I attend my appointment. I don’t look much different but my clothes do feel looser. I meet with Diane, my Motivation advisor, and we chat about the plan to date, how I found it and any queries I may have. I’m eager to be weighed. I want to know the result so Diane agrees to weigh me early on in the consultation. I stand on the scales and can’t believe my eyes. I knew I had lost some weight, but never expected to see 10 stone register on the scales. In one week I have dropped 7lbs – this is unbelievable!

Once this sinks in, it’s funny that my instant reaction is to make excuses as to how this couldn’t be accurate: beginners luck, water retention, my menstrual cycle. Diane takes all of this on board but points out that no matter what way I look at it, the scales were the same scales that registered 10 stone 7 pounds last week.

Apparently being a good member of Motivation Weight Loss is the reason I have lost this weight. Take the tools, do as instructed and you will lose weight – it’s pretty simple when you spell it out. I am already nervous that I won’t be able to keep this great result up for next week. In the weight loss world, are we ever happy? I guess I just need to learn to enjoy the wins.
